If I were in charge of the world
I’d cancel homework, annoying people,
Messy apartments, and being tired.
If I were in charge of the world
There’d be a pet in every household, no mono,
And the temperature everyday would be sixty-five degrees.
If I were in charge of the world
You wouldn’t have fat deposits,
You wouldn’t have hurt.
You wouldn’t have crime.
Or “Better lock your doors”
We wouldn’t even have doors.
If I were in charge of the world,
Perfect days would be endless
Every person would have food to eat
Children would never lose their innocence
And a person who sometimes forgets to love
And sometimes forgets to rise above
Would still be allowed to be
In charge of the world.
I’d cancel homework, annoying people,
Messy apartments, and being tired.
If I were in charge of the world
There’d be a pet in every household, no mono,
And the temperature everyday would be sixty-five degrees.
If I were in charge of the world
You wouldn’t have fat deposits,
You wouldn’t have hurt.
You wouldn’t have crime.
Or “Better lock your doors”
We wouldn’t even have doors.
If I were in charge of the world,
Perfect days would be endless
Every person would have food to eat
Children would never lose their innocence
And a person who sometimes forgets to love
And sometimes forgets to rise above
Would still be allowed to be
In charge of the world.
It's tough to remember to rise above esp. when someone or something is upsetting you ... nicely written/
ReplyDeleteBrittany,
ReplyDeleteI really like this poem!
It's heartfelt, and real. I heard your heart.
*I would have to agree with the canceling homework idea..let's talk to our teachers about that! ;)
Good poem Brittany!
ReplyDeleteI would like to live in this world too!
I love your poem Brittany! I liked the part about mono and the pet! I love the lines "And a person who sometimes forgets to love
ReplyDeleteAnd sometimes forgets to rise above
Would still be allowed to be
In charge of the world." They flow very nicely and sound very insprinational.
I loved this poem Brittany! The words are powerful and well chosen. I especially like the idea of having 'perfect days that are endless'. I think we can all think of a day that we wished would have never ended.
ReplyDeleteI also really liked this poem! It is really powerful and I would love to live in a world like this!
