Color Poem - Red

RED
Red is a ruby ring, a scarf, high heels
Red is the taste of apples and strawberries
Red smells like roses and candles
Red makes me dance
Red is the sound of ribbons and jazz
Red is a T-shirt, a heart, a string of lights
Red is sox, an emblem covered in pine tar
Red is art and laughter, rage and spirit
Red is July
Red is heat, a burning flame
Red is bodies and lips
Red is his tie
Red is spinning and swaying
Red is passion
Red means go.

  1. Nicely presented in the colored type. Makes me wonder how it would read if you chose the color green for the type, yet kept the subject the color red?

Your words create colorful images in my mind.

  2. I like the red font! And I love how you said red is the sound of Jazz! I wouldn't of thought of that, but it really is the perfect fit!

  3. I can tell that a really passionate poet wrote this. I like the quote, "Red means go." That is so rebellious!

  4. I really like this poem, it made me feel the color red, there was a lot of emotion in this poem. Most of us think about Red and love, but I liked how it brought in other aspects such as Red is like July, and red makes me dance.

  5. Jenna,

I love how you said red means go at the end. It is so opposite of how I usually think of red, at least with stop lights in mind. Also, good job incorporating a large variety of red things into the poem!
